Arbor Day...

So yesterday was the 10th Annual Arbor Day celebration at the park down the road. I totally forgot my camera and I am hoping to get some pictures from our friends, Keri & Neal, who went with us. So at the celebration there were booths to make stuff like clothes pin butterflies and spiders. Don't worry the spider was with pipe cleaner so I was ok. And as it turns out we were not able to plant a tree in the park because they were out of them by the time we showed up. But the city has a program every year in which you can buy trees for $35 for personal use. So we bought one and we planted it in our front yard when we got it home.

Now Kenzi was so excited when she woke up when I told her that we were going to plant a tree today. She jumped out of bed, went to the bathroom and talked all about it through breakfast! When we got there all she wanted to do was play on the playground. When we got the tree home she was more interested in the free snacks from the celebration that she sat and ate while Carter and I did all the work!

Kenzi showing my her filthy hands from powder doughnuts. Another snack!

Trying to get a family picture of digging the hole for our tree. Kenzi only did this for pictures no other time.

Kenzi found a seed while Carter and I were digging and decided she wanted to plant it. She wanted to dig a hole. So I said dig it. She said she didn't know how to which I said "all children know how to dig a hole". She has dug holes before but for some reason decided she does not know how to do it.

I am not sure why, but I am SOO excited that we planted a tree. I am not sure if it is a matter of I have now claimed my homestead and this tree hopefully will last 20 years or if manual labor is that fulfilling. But we got it in and watered. I think we did a great job. It is a Japanese Pistache, not pistachio. So Carter and I named the tree "Po". And again Kenzi was watching Batman Brave and the Bold and was kind enough to grace us with her presence for a picture.

We had a great morning as a family. Enjoy! Kari
